Hello! I found this forum whilst researching Zenos on the Internet and have read some very interesting things here. Anyways i thought i would now get some advice...
Just had my open day at the Bradford Zenos Academy earlier today (for the 19-24) and i need to come back for a maths assessment. I have read many answers on this forum about the kind of questions that are in it but slightly confused as some are saying its straight foward stuff like sequences while others say it's a bit more complex. If someone could please let me know what topics i should cover when revising for this as i really don't want to fail it. At the moment i only have Key Skills Level 1 Numeracy. I do however have Key Skills Level 3 Communications, is the KS Communications equivalent to english so i don't have to do an english assessment? I have also done a BTEC National Diploma (IT Practitioners Systems Support) back in 2008 with the grade Merit Pass Pass. What are the chances of me being accepted if I pass the maths assessment? Looking forward to your answers. Thanks |

I have just been accepted in to the 16 - 18 group for the Feb intake and I didn't need to take any maths test and the only maths qualification I have is at GCSE level so I would assume the questions would be at GCSE level.
As far as I am aware they do not require you to take any sort of test for English but that is based of my research and even if they did with a key skills at level 3 you shouldn't need to worry about taking it. When I went to my interview they checked my BTEC National Diploma (IT Practitioners Software Developer) against a module checker so as long as you give them a copy of your modules then they can check that for you. Just out of curiosity have you had a actual interview or did they ask you to take the maths assessment before they would give you a interview? Hope that helped. |

Thanks for your reply, unfortunatly i didn't do too well at GCSE's so my grades are below what they expect.
I haven't had an interview yet as i need to take the maths assessment and pass it before i am considered for an interview. |

Well in that case, I have no idea what the maths assessment is like but at the interview they check the modules and as long as you have more then 72% on the modules you can go on the course ... In my BTEC National Diploma I got 90% so with your qualification you may get in.
Sorry I can't be of more help. |
