And true I dont know alot about the job market at the moment, thats because I've never worked in it. That message was writen at about three o'clock in the morning, so I think that some spelling mistakes are allowed ! And the reason I haven't found a job is because I'm either underqualfied or live to far away to commute. |

I agree that MCDST is not a great certification to have but I disagree with you saying that the A+ serves no purpose. Every employer recognises the A+ as an entry level certification, and it proves that you're not just the 'regular joe' that only knows MS word, but actually understands the inner workings of a PC and various other things in more detail. Are you saying that you completely wasted 5 months of your life, or that the course was not what you first expected? Also, what is functional skills? Is that key skills? |

Hello Daniel Yes, the A+ is the best of the vendor qualifications that you gain. Sorry I didnt put it across very well :P Most of the material was common knowlage for me and some was trivial facts that dont apply to the world as it stands now, for instance we learn about the first computer made and how they came about (To me this seems like knowlage that does not apply to the current market). But I am very understanding of what you mean you make some good points. No, I didnt waste five months of my life. It just feels like it. I feel that the only qualifications that mean much in the 'Real world' are the ADITP, A+, and to some what the NVQ. This is what I meant. "Functional skills" is the thing that will be replacing Key skills in the next month or so. If you are attending the course you will sit the exams. It's just the partical application of English and Maths into real life situations. To be perfectly honest the exams are quite easy (For me they were, may differ from person to person), but the qualification is not that well know yet and thus makes it useless (at the current time). And yes it's basicaly Key skills with a diffrent name .

I was trying to say that the reason you guys were forced to do functional skills is because it appears you can't achieve the ADITP without doing them. |
